About this poster
Originally made for myself and titled “Swimming Ghost”.
In the days when Litter Pearls seemed brilliant, I often dreamed that I drowned. I never looked up the classical interpretation, but I’m guessing it concerns "being overwhelmed".
I came near drowning once while losing a fight to a current. As it was happening I thought to myself, “Is this the fucking dream?”
That didn’t help the panic, but I managed some grace and floated.
I made the image not long after when it just flashed in my skull’s silver screen.
First used on a 2010 SXSW poster and then again for the Avetts as my third poster for them.
I saw the image as a good news ending to the Lucifer in the ribcage image. - RJ
