About this poster
Image taken from a 1913 woodcut by artist Edmund Sullivan, originally done to illustrate the 26th quatrain of The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, this block print underscores the verse "The Flower that once has blown for ever dies."
The artist later released Skeleton and Roses, an art print featuring a similar design.
FD-26-RP-7 is sometimes confused with FD-26-RP-13, which was printed on noticeably thinner paper and wider of width by ½” and utilizes the same colors. If you were to line up both posters at the left margin you’d see the credits on the bottom line up almost exactly. Therefore, the RP-13’s extra width can be accounted for by an uncut right margin. The RP-7 is less common than the RP-13, which has a similar credit with “RP 006 © 1977 Kelley/Mouse Portal Publications Ltd, Corte Madera. California 94925”.
