About this poster
"Inspired by the history of the Garden; I chose to portray what was the 2nd
building to have the name.
Now referred to as Madison Square Garden II, it was built in 1890 and closed in 1925.
I started with a 3 color split fountain, then grey and black, reduction style. I wanted a bit of the split fountain to show through in some spots to tie the print together.
Hand carved, hand pressed woodblock print.
5 Oil Based Ink Colors:
Prussian Blue, Naphthol Red and a hand mixed Orange in a 3 color split fountain as a base layer. I carved away the block and then printed grey, carved away and printed the final color Black.
