About this poster
Original 1966 handbill advertising an October 8 concert by Brazilian guitarist Bola Sete and The Grateful Dead at Mt. Tamaipais Outdoor Theater in Marin County, CA. The design, by iconic psychedelic poster artists Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley of Mouse Studios, shows A. A. Milne's characters Pooh and Piglet walking towards a setting sun, under the word "Peace" (with Pooh carrying a kilo in his arm and Piglet casually blowing smoke at the sky!) The show was presented by the congressional campaign of anti-war candidate Phil Drath.
There are three versions of this handbill, as the billing changed a couple of times, and the changes were reflected in the handbills. This is the 3rd/final-state version that was distributed.
The other two versions are shown in The Art of Rock as Plate Numbers 2.325 and 2.326. The AOR 2.325 is the commonly seen version that lists Joan Baez instead of Bola Sete.
